With artifacts and works from all over the world, the museum houses the greatest pieces from Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe as well as ancient art. It is also common to bring in traveling exhibits including The Impressionists, and Islamic Art, to complement recent acquisitions of paintings by Poussin, Ruisdael and Guercino.

AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM 3536 Grand Ave, Dallas, TX 75210 This Fair Park institution preserves African-American cultural, historical and artistic materials throughout its five galleries, and also offers educational programs as well as a research library. Its cross-shaped building encompasses one of the largest collections of African-American folk art in the country.
Amon Carter Museum of American Art: 3501 Camp Bowie Blvd, Fort Worth, TX 76107 This museum in the Fort Worth Cultural District is home to works by a variety of American artists, and it features a particularly strong photography collection, as well as Carter’s personal collection of art by Frederic Remington and Charles Russell.
Trammell & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art: 2010 Flora St, Dallas, TX 75201 This serene Dallas Arts District museum is tiny but well worth your time. It focuses on the arts and cultures of China, Japan, India and Southeast Asia.
Dallas Museum of Art: 1717 N. Harwood, Dallas, TX The big daddy of them all. We will be having a class visit at this location. The museum collection is made up of more than 24,000 objects, dating from the third millennium BC to the present day. Admission is FREE.
THE MEADOWS MUSEUM: Southern Methodist University, 5900 Bishop Blvd, Dallas, TX 75205 This Southern Methodist University gem houses what’s billed as one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of Spanish art outside Spain.
MODERN ART MUSEUM OF FORT WORTH: 3200 Darnell St, Fort Worth, TX 76107 Houses post-World War II art in various media. “Selections From the Permanent Collection,” on view through Aug. 11, shows work representing various movements, themes and styles in modern and contemporary international art, including abstract expressionism, color-field painting, pop art and minimalism.

Austin: Mexic-Arte Museum: 419 Congress Ave, Austin, TX Celebrates Latino figures and iconography. The museums' mission is to showcase traditional and contemporary Mexican and Latino art and cultures.
The Blanton Museum of Art: University of Texas campus Devoted to European paintings (with an emphasis on Renaissance and Baroque art), modern American and Latin American Art, and contemporary art. One of the premier university art museums in the US, the Blanton complex also includes a cafe, a museum shop, and an outdoor plaza that hums with activity between classes.
San Antonio: San Antonio Museum of Art: 200 West Jones Avenue San Antonio, Texas Specializes in art of the Americas including pre-Columbian, Spanish Colonial, and Latin American folk art. It also included eighteenth-, nineteenth- and twentieth-century American and European paintings, photography, sculpture, and decorative arts. In 1985, the Museum received collections of Latin American Folk Art.
